Calling in sick

Are you sick and unable to come into work? Unfortunately, that happens. Transport People has clear rules and agreements with regard to calling in sick and absenteeism. If you are sick, you have to let us know as follows:

Step 1: before the start of your activities, you must (personally) call your direct supervisor at the company you work for to let them know you are sick.

Step 2: you must also personally call in sick to Transport People (between 08:30 and 09:30).

Note! You must always personally call in sick via telephone. If you fail to do so, your absenteeism will not be processed. A text message or WhatsApp are not legally acceptable means to call in sick.

Step 3: make sure you are available by phone.

After completing these steps, we will contact you to discuss the absenteeism guidance you will receive. It is important that you always comply with the agreements we make.

Returning to work

Hopefully, there will come a day when you feel healthy again and are ready to return to work. When that is the case, we want you to let us know. When you are ready to return to work, you must inform your employer and Transport People before the start of your activities.

Continued wage payments during sickness?

It depends entirely on the contract you have whether you will continue to receive wages while you are out sick. If your contract has an agency clause, your employment contract will be terminated and you will - in most cases - receive sickness benefits from the UWV.   If your contract does not have an agency clause, Transport People will continue your wage payments as before.

Your contract ends while you are out sick

If you have an employment contract for a limited period that ends while you are out sick, you may be entitled to receive sickness benefits. These sickness benefits are usually paid out by the UWV, although you may also receive them from Transport People in some cases. It all depends on the type of contract you have.

Based on the applicable legislation and regulations, it is determined whether you are entitled to receive sickness benefits, what amount you will receive and for how long. The UWV will calculate what amount you are entitled to.

Here you can find the absenteeism regulations.
